Teleprompter — Privacy Policy

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

Aksoy Labs publishes Teleprompter for iPhone. This policy describes the 0.2 beta and 1.0 versions and how their features handle information. For privacy questions, contact support@aksoylabs.com. You do not need to create an Aksoy Labs account to use the app.

1. Your scripts and recordings

The app stores scripts, projects, takes, imported media, captions, editing decisions and preferences locally on your device. We do not operate an automatic Teleprompter cloud library or account sync in this version. AI writing and translation through our backend are unavailable in these versions; the app does not send your content to Anthropic or an Aksoy Labs AI service.

Local storage does not mean that every copy stays on one device. Finished exports and project packages can appear in Files. When you share a video, save it to Photos, or export a project package, you choose its destination. A project package includes the project and its media. Files providers, recipients and iOS, iCloud or computer backups may keep additional copies under their own settings and privacy practices.

2. Camera, microphone, Photos and files

The app requests camera permission for video recording and microphone permission for recording or following your speech. You can use the camera-free prompter without recording video. Importing through the system Photos or Files picker gives the app the items you choose; it does not require access to your entire photo library. Saving an export to Photos requests permission to add that export.

You can change permissions in iOS Settings. Denying or revoking a permission prevents the related feature from working but does not remove your existing local projects.

3. Speech following and captions

Teleprompter uses Apple speech-recognition services to follow your reading and make captions from recorded audio. Recognition runs on device when the device, language and available Apple model support it. Some on-device caption features may need an Apple model download.

If on-device recognition is unavailable, the app asks for separate permission before using Apple server speech processing. That processing sends the relevant microphone or recording audio to Apple. Live speech following can also send up to 60 vocabulary or context hints drawn from your script to help recognition. Not every language or device supports offline recognition.

You can withdraw server speech permission in the app's Settings → Privacy for future requests. This does not delete information that Apple has already processed. Apple controls its own processing and retention; see Apple Privacy.

4. Subscriptions and plan information

Apple handles purchases through StoreKit, including payment, pricing, offer eligibility, renewals and refunds. The app uses verified purchase information to unlock or restore access. It stores a local cache of product and transaction identifiers, subscription status and relevant dates. Aksoy Labs does not receive your payment-card number through the app.

Separately, the app can retrieve a public plan-configuration file from GitHub's gist.githubusercontent.com service when it opens, becomes active or prepares the subscription screen. This file controls which plans are displayed and their order; Apple supplies the prices and purchase eligibility. This request does not contain your scripts, recordings, purchase tokens or an app user ID. The hosting service can receive the connecting IP address and ordinary request information. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement; we do not specify a fixed retention period for GitHub's hosting logs.

5. Optional product analytics, local diagnostics and TestFlight

Starting with version 1.0, you can choose to share usage data with Amplitude so we can understand which screens and controls are useful, where people leave a flow, and whether features succeed. Sharing is off until you choose to enable it. Declining does not restrict recording, editing, purchases or other app features. Earlier 0.2 beta builds keep their usage-event log on device and do not send it to Amplitude.

When enabled, events may include screen and control names, feature outcomes, a random identifier created for this app installation, session and event identifiers, timestamps, app version and build, distribution channel, interface language and limited categories such as the selected subscription period. We do not include script titles or text, transcripts, captions, audio, video, imported filenames, email addresses, payment details, purchase tokens or advertising identifiers. We do not record screen replays or keystrokes.

The random identifier associates events from the same installation; it is not an Apple advertising identifier or an Aksoy Labs account. TestFlight events and App Store events use separate Amplitude projects. We disable IP-based location enrichment in event payloads. Amplitude still receives the network connection needed to deliver a request, which can include the connecting IP address in its service logs. See Amplitude's Privacy Notice.

Change this choice in Settings → Privacy → Share Usage Data. Turning sharing off stops future uploads, clears unsent events and resets the app's analytics identifier. It does not automatically erase events already received by Amplitude. For access or deletion requests, contact us; we will explain what information we can identify and what is needed to handle the request. We do not promise that provider records expire with the app's local project-retention setting.

Separately, Teleprompter keeps a rolling log of up to 500 diagnostic events on your device. It contains event names, timestamps, build channel, per-event identifiers and limited feature, state or duration categories. It does not contain your scripts, transcripts, audio or video. You can view and clear it in Settings → Privacy → Event Log. This local log is not uploaded as a file; optional product analytics uses a separate, filtered queue and only sends events after consent.

TestFlight is separate: Apple automatically collects beta crash and usage information and shares it with us. We use it to investigate problems and improve the beta. It may include device and app details and, depending on how you were invited, your name and email. Feedback and screenshots you submit through TestFlight are also shared with us. See TestFlight & Privacy for Apple's details and retention practices.

6. Support and this website

If you email support, we receive your sender address, message and any attachments you choose to include. We use this correspondence to respond and investigate the issue. The app's contact link does not automatically attach recordings or diagnostic logs. Please include only the information needed for your request.

Opening this policy or the support page also makes a web request. Our website host, Vercel, can process ordinary connection information such as IP address, requested page and browser details to deliver and protect the website. See Vercel's Privacy Notice. These pages do not provide a form for uploading your projects.

7. Deletion, retention and copies

Local content remains until you remove it or the app applies its deletion settings. Deleted projects first go to Recently Deleted. Its default retention is 30 days and can be adjusted from 1 to 90 days; eligible projects are purged on a subsequent app startup, rather than at a guaranteed exact time. You can also permanently delete projects. Script trash is separate and can be emptied manually; the project retention setting does not automatically empty script trash.

Deleting a project does not delete separate exported copies. Uninstalling removes data stored inside the app's container, including exports or project packages still stored there. Copies saved or shared outside the app, such as in Photos, another Files location, with recipients or in backups, may remain. Apple purchase records and information already held by service providers are also separate. Manage those copies through their respective apps or services. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Local deletion also does not remove support correspondence or TestFlight reports already received by us. To ask about access, retention or deletion of that information, contact support@aksoylabs.com. We do not promise that these records or providers' records expire after the local project-retention period.

8. Your choices and privacy requests

You can edit or delete local content, clear local diagnostics, turn off optional product analytics, withdraw server speech consent, change iOS permissions and manage Apple subscriptions. We cannot retrieve a script or recording held only on your device. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have rights concerning information we hold about you. Email us to request access, correction or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern; identify Teleprompter and the information involved without sending unnecessary sensitive content.

Apple, Amplitude, GitHub, Vercel and the email service used for support may process information outside your country. Their applicable privacy information describes their processing and international-transfer practices. Teleprompter does not use an advertising identifier or track you across other companies' apps and websites in this version.

9. Changes and contact

We will update this page if the app's data practices change, including before enabling an AI backend. The date above identifies this policy revision. For help using the app, visit Teleprompter Support. For privacy questions, email support@aksoylabs.com.
